1) The times for the training will be:

Mon 15th to Fri 19th February (5 mornings/afternoons/evenings) and Mon 22nd, Wed 24th and Fri 26th February (3 mornings/afternoons/evenings):

  • Ireland & UK Time: 5-7 pm
  • Copenhagen, Brussels, Berlin, Oslo: 18:00-20:00
  • Toronto, New York (Eastern Time): 12-2 pm
  • Los Angeles: 9-11 am

You will have time to engage in personal nature connection practices during the 15th-19th February in the mornings/afternoons/evenings. This will be self-guided.

2) Two nature immersive days with FTI Certified Forest Bathing Guides in your Country

This two-day nature immersive practice will take place during your three-month mentored practice as long as we have trained FTI Guides in your country. Dates will vary depending on each country but FTI will confirm this with you when you book your place on the training.

Total hours for online training, self-guided practice and nature immersive day: practice 95 hours + 2-day outdoor training.

The Certified Forest Bathing Guide Training costs € 1,760 for the 3-month period.

This training is suitable for those who wish to offer Forest Bathing as a wellness or therapeutic practice, or in combination with other wellness practices such as yoga, mindfulness and coaching, among others. It offers both wellness and therapeutic approaches.

The Forest Bathing Training establishes a strong base for those who wish to attend the CPD in Forest Therapy for treatment, intervention and rehabilitation.

        Alex has developed Forest Therapy programs for Corporate Wellbeing, Stress Prevention, Mental Health specific populations and Trouble kids. He is an advisor for Public and Forest Health with CONAF -Ministry of Agriculture of Chile- and to the Union of Foresters of Southern Europe (USSE), European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG). He collaborated as a consultant specialist in the Expert Group on Human Health and Well-Being to Forest Europe. He has trained more than 500 guides and practitioners from five continents, and mentored 150 of them. Alex is the author of "Sentir el bosque: La experiencia del Shinrin-Yoku (Baño de Bosque)", ("Feeling the forest: the experience of Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing)") Penguin Random House Editorial Group. He is trained in business management, sociology, non-verbal communication and leadership.

          Shirley lives in Dublin and is a Director of both the Forest Therapy Institute and Ecowellness Consulting. Master Degrees in both Health Promotion and Social Work and has over twenty years of experience working in the areas of health and social care. Having become the first Certified Forest Therapy Guide in Europe, she also has extensive postgraduate training in Ecotherapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, counseling, stress management, dialectical behavioral therapy skills, family behavioral therapy, and therapeutic use of mindfulness. Shirley has presented her Forest Therapy Research and Practice at international conferences and the United Nations. She trained as a nature guide with Eco Training in South Africa and has completed an internship in the South African National Parks. Shirley has a deep love and respect for nature, especially trees.

            Pedro Trindade

            Pedro has lead inumerous walks both to locals and tourists around Lisbon, Portugal, as well as given several talks on Forest Bathing & Forest Therapy. Using FTI's 5x5 method as a solid evidence-based framework, he's currently developing his own method of integrating nature connection practices into contemporary lifestyles, making nature connectedness a strong foundation for everyone who wants to improve health & wellbeing, as well as their performance in life. He's passionate for showing participants that, depending on the type of forest or other natural environment they walk in, the season, the weather, etc, each Forest Bathing session is a unique sensory and meaningful experience on its own. He's also trained in landscape architecture, photography, and sustainable & naturalistic garden and planting design.

              Kerry

              Trainer & Mentor

              Kerry is a passionate Forest Therapy Practitioner, Forest School Leader and an Art Therapist based in the West of Ireland. Her appreciation for nature and art has brought her on creative journey's around the world. She facilitated creative arts programmes focusing on using art and nature as a tool for integration, connection and awareness. Kerry has been guiding Forest Therapy walks for 3 years with a focus on integrating her art therapy experience within her walks. She is the co-founder of Down to Earth Forest School, a nature based educational programme where children are supported to learn and create through nature. She runs environmental education workshops for primary schools and is part of the facilitator team for the Forest School Leadership programme. She has training in Eco-Psychology, Challenging Behaviour in the Outdoors, Therapeutic Play skills and is training in Therapeutic skills for children in the outdoors.

                The Forest Therapy Institute 5×5 Model training is inspired by our love for the land, the richness of our specific ancient traditions and cultures and our social and environmental particular contexts. All programmes are adapted to the specific culture and environmental contexts where the training takes place. Based on a scientific supported framework and the latest international research, at the FTI Forest Bathing 5×5 Model training you will:

                • Enhance your awareness of your relationship with nature that supports your healing, meaning and purpose.
                • Be equipped with a specific framework to guide forest bathing walks and experiences.
                • Receive a tool kit to integrate Forest Bathing wellness practice into the health care system.
                • Integrate new skills to develop your life and career path.

                The pathway of the online two weeks led face to face Forest Bathing Training and Certification works as follows:

                • 1st week – 5 mornings/afternoons/evenings: Lectures & Group work & Afternoons: Self-Guided Practice (Indoor & Outdoor).
                • 2nd week – 3 mornings/afternoons/evenings: Lectures & Group work.
                • Two nature immersive days with FTI Certified Forest Bathing Guides in your Country.

                Total hours for online training, self-guided practice and nature immersive days is 40 hours.

                Immediately following this, you begin your mandatory 3-month Mentored Practice. After this period, once you have met the requirements to be a competent guide, you will receive your certification. This final Mentored Practice will enable you to integrate your learning into your work practice.

                In terms of allocating your time this mentored practice takes approximately 45 hours over the course of three months. This breaks down to 15 hours per month or 0.5 days per week.

                FTI · Certified Forest Bathing Guide:

                5 mornings/afternoons/evenings + 3 mornings/afternoons/evenings (online trainer led face to face lectures) + 3 mornings/afternoons/evenings (Self-guided Practice) + 2-day Nature Immersive Experience + 3 months of Mentored Practice = Certification

                It is a requirement of the certification that you complete a “First Aid Training” or “Wilderness First Aid Training”, as part of your mentored practice. This is not included in the training fee.

                1) Online two weeks led face to face consisting of a combination of experiential and online classroom style learning using the 5×5 Model, which is the common framework that both paths share and where you will learn about:

                2) 3-month Mentored Practice, home-based, to integrate the immersion learning, where you will be:

                • Paired with a local mentor that will support your journey.
                • Attending a series of monthly calls with colleagues and mentor.

                With the Forest Bathing Training, you will be able to:
